Piercing Locations: What Are Your Options?

One of the hardest decisions I personally experienced when trying to select what piercings I wanted to get stemmed back to the fact that there are SO many options – There are over a dozen piercings commonly recognized on the ears alone! For those that are considering getting something new, the choices can be overwhelming. Where do you even begin? Check out this list of piercing locations!

Let’s start by making one clear differentiation – there are some piercings that are purely for appearance, like getting your eyebrow pierced or the basic earlobe piercing. Other piercings, however, are associated with some sort of function. For example, the daith piercing on the ear is believed to provide relief from migraines, whereas a number of different genital piercings, as well as nipple piercings, are believed to enhance the sexual experience.

Regardless of what you get, always remember that piercings can heal. You may have a small mark as a reminder, but the piercing itself will grow in. If you’re unsure about a specific piercing, especially one that’s visible, take it for a test drive! You can pick up fake hoops to try for piercings like the nose or helix or use stick on body jewelry or a simple marker to try out a stud piercing. Sometimes all it takes is to walk around ‘with the piercing’ for a day to decide if you think it’s a good fit or not.

While this isn’t, by any means a complete list, I am going to list the more commonly recognized piercings in each location. If you see something that you find interested, there is a great collection of body piercing pictures on the website Painful Pleasures including even the more ‘sensitive’ piercings (although you will have to register to see those). Just enter the name of the piercing in the search box. There is also a forum if you have questions.

I’ve always thought of a Helix piercing. I have my ears done and wanted something extra. I’ve had my nose done twice but it never took and was forced out and my belly but that got infected and scarred.

    1. I’ve had a helix for some time now and I love it – a little something extra without going too crazy (it was my first piercing outside of basic earlobes lol)

    1. You know I’m in – hardest decision will be deciding what’s first hahaha – We still owe each other a tattoo date sometime soon

  2. Oh my goodness all the genitalia piercings make me cringe haha, I have about four in my lobes and a daith.. I have been looking into getting the industrial for a while now but it’s finding the time to get it done as I’d like someone to sit with Robin will I go do it.. I got the daith to help my migraines and so far so good

    1. I feel like some of the genitalia piercings are relatively tame compared to others – the one that gets me is the clit… I can’t imagine risking losing ALL feeling like that…

    1. There’s no such thing as a boring piercing in my book! Some may be more common, but they are all beautiful!

  3. I love piercings, though I didn’t realize how many options there are! I have my ear lobes, my cartilage (now closed), my nose, my belly button, and my nipples pierced! I want to get a daith piercing to help with my migraines next!

    1. I was surprised by some of the options – the ones I found most interesting was to read through all the different genital piercings on men lol not something I had ever looked into before!

    1. I’ve let a few of mine grow in over the years as well – although now I have even more I want to get lol
