After kicking off the day participating in the Windsor Canada Day parade with the Kingsville Essex Associated Band, I decided it was time to relax and kick my feet up. What better time to browse Instagram in search of some stunning artwork that is often showcased there?

If you are new to Alternatively Speaking, approximately once every 1-2 months I put together a tattoo round-up post. Starting with a specific theme in mind, I search Instagram for an assortment of different styles and designs. As an ‘alternative lifestyle’ blog, I spend much of my time discussing my love for tattoos, and this is another opportunity to celebrate the incredible work that artists across the globe are producing and sharing online.

Each of these tattoos is embedded directly from Instagram. I have put my best effort into ensuring that the artist is credited for their work, embedding images directly from the artist or tattoo studio rather than a reshared image. That being said, I can’t guarantee that the information provided is accurate as I don’t know these artists firsthand. For this reason, I always ask my readers to let me know if you are aware that any of these images contain incorrect artist information. It is my goal to ensure that the talented artists behind this ink will receive the credit that they deserve. I would be more than happy to review the situation if it is brought to my attention. Simply visit my Contact Page and drop me a line.

After checking out these great Canadian tattoos, you may find yourself looking for more. After all, who can get enough of these Canadian vibes on a day like today? If so, check out the hashtag #Canadatattoo on Instagram!

Do you know an incredible tattoo artist that you believe deserves recognition? I have launched a new series here on Alternatively Speaking called ‘Behind the Ink’. Each post will feature a different tattoo artist, sharing their answers to a series of interview-style questions as well as showcasing some of their incredible work. This is a chance to get their name and their talent out there for the world to see, sharing their passion for tattoos and tattoo culture. If you are an artist, or if you know a phenomenal artist that you feel deserves the recognition, please Contact Me for more information!

You can check out the first Behind the Ink interview with Brandon Graveline HERE!

Which of the above Canadian tattoos really screams ‘Canada’ to you? Would you ever get a patriotic tattoo (Canadian or whatever country you call home)?

  1. These are class! I’m in the market for a new tattoo, so I’ve been sniffing through your blogs for inspiration. I love the tattoo of the geometric maple leaf!

    1. Let me know if there’s a specific theme you’d like to see! I LOVE doing the tattoo roundups, they are so much fun.

    1. I would love to eventually get something that shows off my love for my country, I just haven’t decided on what yet

  2. These are fantastic! I have the Irish word for strong (laidre, pronounced loy-der) on my ribs!

    1. I have yet to get a rib tattoo but I’ve considered a few… I just can’t seem to make up my mind lol

    1. I have a friend like that. She’s got no tattoos but we talk about them regularly. She often states “Some people wear their artwork on their skin, I hang mine on my walls – doesn’t mean we can’t both appreciate it all”

    1. I have had a serious love of watercolour style works lately, so that one instantly caught my attention

  3. Wow, so many creative and colourful designs! I especially love the one by Sparrow Hands Art, the detail and range of colours is absolutely gorgeous, such an awesome tattoo! The one with the little heart in is super cute too. Thanks for sharing Britt, such fabulous pieces of art <3 xx
