The holiday season has shifted! Jack-o-lanterns and black cats have been replaced with snowmen and elves. If you’re a lover of all things spooky, this can be a difficult time as we say goodbye to the season that so openly embraced everything we love. Rest assured, you’re not alone. Join me in embracing the spookier side of the season with this Creepmas movie marathon!

What is Creepmas? For those of us who feel most at home during the Halloween season, the Christmas season can be incredibly overwhelming. Seemingly overnight stores are quick to forget about all things spooky and weird in favour of the happy, cheerful world of Christmas. In more recent years, this shift is happening earlier and earlier in October, pushing Halloween out long before it’s time! In response, a large number of spooky lovers have chosen to push back by reversing roles and introducing our love all things spooky into our Christmas celebrations.
There is no one ‘right’ way to celebrate Creepmas. For some, it’s a continuation of a love of the spooky season 365 days of the year. Others, however, simply prefer the darker side of the holiday season. This may include shedding light on some of the more traditional folklore like the tales of Krampus, or more modern combinations like The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Either way, it’s about embracing YOUR interests and refusing to allow society to force anything less upon you. We’re all individuals and should celebrate accordingly! Follow your heart and don’t be afraid to get a little creative…
In our house, the holiday season is an interesting blend of different traditions, events and celebrations. As practicing Pagans, at the centre of everything we do is a more traditional Yule complete with the creation and burning of the Yule log. However, we have also chosen to embrace a few other aspects of the holidays. For example, we set up a Christmas tree, hang out outdoor Christmas lights and exchange gifts with family. There are no rules that you have to follow… I love my black-themed holiday decorations, the inclusion of skulls in our holiday décor, and more! Why not?

One popular way of celebrating during the holiday season is the sudden wave of holiday movies. Unless you grew up under a rock, you’ve heard of the Hallmark Christmas movies – dozens and dozens of sappy, feel-good movies that all follow a very similar plot. Add to that the traditional holiday movies like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman, as well as newer favourites including Elf and The Santa Claus, and you have a HUGE selection for your next holiday movie marathon.
What if, however, you want to curl up with your favourite seasonal drink and enjoy that same movie marathon Creepmas style? You may be surprised to learn there are several fun movies that will fit the bill!

What is are your favourite Creepmas movie marathon selections? I would love to hear your recommendations in the comments below!
As I’m being forced to watch Hallmark Christmas movies with my wife, this was a welcome change. Should Bad Santa be on the list also?
Bad Santa is definitely a fun one that winds up being played at least once every season in our house! Lol
I love this idea especially as I find traditional Christmas movies schmaltzy. I was going to do a Xmas Movie Challenge in December but I only really like Elf, Bad Santa and Die Hard!
Hahaha I enjoy the actual classics when I’m in the Christmas mood, but most of the newer movies don’t interest me (minus a few – we watched Die Hard the other night actually lol)
It’s really so surprising to see how quickly stores have gone from showing halloween things to Christmas! Quite literally like it was overnight, Nov. 1st all Christmas decorations were all out.
One thing I love is the Holiday movie marathons on TV, the countdown of 25 days to Christmas is my favorite, so many classics shown in 25 days. I haven’t heard of most of these movies before (have I been living under a rock!?) not sure I have a favorite Creepmas movie but looks like I have a lot to catch up on in Creepmas movies!
Around here Halloween was reduced to a back corner before Halloween night, it was crazy!
I agree, when it comes to the more traditional Christmas movies, I prefer the classics
I’ve never heard of Creepmas before but I love the idea! I really like Black Christmas x
Sophie
I’m really interested to see what they do with the remake that’s coming out this year! I hope they don’t ruin it…
Never heard of creepmas but let me tell you The Children was one of the most messed up films I’ve ever watched but in a good way!! Some good inspo here too! X
Yes! It definitely messes with your mind haha
I love this idea for a Christmassy post compared to your usually Christmas films! I’m definitely going to look for some of these x
Sometimes you just need a good spooky movie marathon…
Okay, in my life sometimes is pretty much all the time hahaha
Have you heard of Santas Slay its one of my favorite creepmas movies. It stars former professional wrestler Bill Goldberg
Yes! I forgot that one on the list, but it’s also a fun one! Thank you for reminding me
They are really scary!! Good selection! 🙂
Thank you!
OK, I live under a rock, I have NEVER heard of Creepmas! We do watch The Nightmare Before Christmas every year (it works for Christmas much better than Hallowe’en, I will die on this hill) and who can forget the Gremlins series of films, haha. Thanks for introducing me to a whole new genre, Britt!

In our house, Nightmare Before Christmas is for both holidays, and so should be watched more often hahaha
This is so interesting! My fiance identifies as a “sick horror freak,” so looks like we have some new Christmas movies on our list. 🙂
Can’t go wrong with some Christmas horror during the holidays! I hope you find something new to add to your holiday traditions on this list!
Haha! I’ve never heard of ‘Creepmas’ before but this is such a fun idea!
A fun blend of Christmas and the spookier side of life 😉
These movies all look perfect for a creepy Christmas! My best friend would love this list — she loves watching scary movies this time of year and her husband hates it. Honestly, it cracks me up. Her and I watch the scary movies and our husbands go elsewhere and hang out.
That sounds like the perfect friendship! Honestly, it sounds a lot like my bestie and I lol We’re lucky our husbands get along so well because we can leave them to hang out and do our own thing lol
Girl this is a first creepmas! Even thou i watch on item on your list that is krampus so what scary on the first watch.
Krampus is so much fun for the holidays hahaha Especially considering the fact that it actually has some traditional roots in the folklore surrounding Krampus
Interesting list of movies, I’ll have to check some of these out in the run up to Christmas 🙂
I love a good horror movie – Sure, most aren’t exactly scary but you can usually get a good laugh out of them at the very least, right?
Better yet if you can get your hands on a horror movie that coincides with the season lol
I love this idea I much prefer creepy films to happy christmas ones haha
Yes, me too!
I love this post and the photos. This makes me want to watch Nightmare before Christmas and Hocus Pocus for Autumn! Thanks for sharing and for the support on my blog
