Have you noticed that much of our society is geared towards the younger generation? With television commercials and blockbuster movies reminding us that our 20’s are the ‘best time of our lives’, many of us over the age of thirty find ourselves feeling like we’re already ‘over the hill’. This, of course, is a rather depressing concept, but not one that you should buy into. It doesn’t matter what age you are, there are still plenty of ways that you can reclaim your youth. Always remember, you’re only as old as you feel!

You’ve heard of the concept of ‘young at heart’, but there may be more to this cliché phrase. While there is no denying the fact that our bodies will age over time (we can’t defy science and time… yet…), there are steps that we can take to help slow the ageing process. Haven’t you heard, 30 is the new 20!
So, how exactly do you reclaim your youth? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Today we’re going to walk through a number of different options ranging from simply changing your mindset to release your inner child to cosmetic surgery options to allow your external, physical age to match your internal, mental age.
So, grab a glass of wine or a cold beer and let’s get down to business…

5 Ways to Reclaim Your Youth This New Year
Get Out of Your “Old” Mindset
It doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside as long as you feel young on the inside. So, if you don’t feel like you are ancient, there is no need to act like it! Of course, when every magazine page and TV ad is showing you pictures of young, shiny things, it can be difficult to remind yourself that you are still young. Try something new that will help you tap into your inner child. For example, taking part in a team sport or unleashing your inner creativity by learning how to play a musical instrument or taking up painting.
Consider a Younger Exterior to Match Your Inner Youth
A ‘young’ mindset is great, but it may not always be easy to achieve. Especially if you look in the mirror and see an older face staring back at you. So, if you want your outside to match your spirit, you may want to consider facial cosmetic surgery. Just a few nips and tucks here and there and you may feel a lot better. While some may argue that cosmetic surgery is a shallow approach, don’t take the criticism to heart. If it helps you feel better about yourself, why not?
Another way to reclaim your youth by creating a ‘younger exterior’ is to treat yourself to a makeover. There is something unbelievably refreshing about a new hair colour or style. Are you feeling adventurous? Rock a bold, bright colour like pink, purple or blue.

Have a Period of “Yes”
As you get older, you may find yourself saying no to a lot of things. We are wired to long for things that are familiar, creating a comfort zone where we feel safe. Unfortunately, by sticking to this comfort zone you will end up losing out on many opportunities over the years. Don’t settle for your comfort zone. Instead, start saying yes to more of the chances that do come your way. You will be surprised by all of the new experiences that you end up with. Most importantly, you will remind yourself of what it is like to be young, vibrant, and curious again.

Take Advantage of Your Older Life
At this stage in your life, you may think back to your youth with fondness, recalling your many adventures and exciting experiences. What you may forget, though, is that you also had to face a number of challenges and obstacles along the way. You may have been limited by any number of factors including, but not limited to, financial instability or lack of knowledge/awareness. However, with time, many of these doors have now been opened. Take full advantage of this and do everything that you have ever wanted to do. For instance, was there a particular facial feature that always annoyed you? Then consult Dr.Kristina Zakhary providing facelift surgeries and see what can be done about this. Always dreamt of visiting Paris? Start planning that dream vacation. The sky is the limit!
Set Goals for Yourself
Are you feeling trapped in your current life, be it your relationship situation, home life or career? One great way to breathe energy into your life, making you feel younger, is to set some goals and break free from this rut. The only way to live a life filled with all the things that you have dreamt of is to go out there and achieve your goals, big and small.
Simply writing down your objectives, or your ‘end game’, isn’t enough. You also need to plan out just how you are going to achieve these goals, breaking them down into smaller, more manageable parts if necessary. Share your goals with friends or family members that you trust, inviting them to hold you accountable along the way. Crossing items of your list will give you a rush, helping you feel younger, more motivated and ready to take on whatever life may throw your way.

If you’re ready to feel younger and rejuvenated in your life as you step into 2020, try out some (or all) of these tips. Regardless of your age or stage in life, you can still reclaim your youth! The power is in your hands… Don’t settle for just allowing time to pass you by.
In what ways do you try to reclaim your youth on a daily basis? If you have any great suggestions that I missed, I would love to hear about them in the comments below!
Love this! One of the big things I want to focus on this year is having a period of “yes”!
Jas xx
That’s one of the big things for me moving into this year. I want to get out and enjoy life more!
I’m only 23 and feel old! But I know I’ll look back and now and see myself as so young. I think a lot of people feel there are social rules they have to follow when getting older – especially women feeling too old for long hair or wearing certain clothing (for some reason here, older women don’t wear converse????) but I plan on disregarding that. You shouldn’t be too old for anything!
I agree! I have had so many people ask me if I think I’m getting too old for blue hair or when I’ll decide I’m too old to continue… Umm, never? If I decide not to have blue hair any longer, it won’t be due to my age!
I’m 31 (nearly 32) and I live in converse! & have long hair lol. I think if it makes you happy, why change it?
Exactly!
I love this! I really want to try having a yes period and seeing what happens too. I totally agree about the old mindset as well. My mum thinks really young and I think she’s a perfect example of age only being in your head sometimes x

It’s crazy sometimes to see someone with an old mindset literally aging themselves, letting their mental age ultimately impact not only how they feel but their physical health as well.
I love this post! I must admit I am only 23 but sometimes I still feel like life is getting away from me! One of my goals was also to say yes more so that I am open to more opportunities – Great post!
I’m excited to hear how saying ‘yes’ more often can make a difference in your life moving forward!
These are really good ways for people to feel younger 🙂 It’s odd sometimes I feel old, but others I don’t but I think that has a lot how others perceive me tbh. I don’t dress my age tbh, I don’t feel adultish because I don’t have a husband or kids (despite not wanting those things). Then a lot of people think I am much younger than I am they treat me accordingly and not always in a good way. I get called girly, child, kid, baby, etc a lot and so I think that “helps” me not feel my age because of the lack of disrespect. But at the same time I get people telling me if I am too old to be doing the things that I love like fanfiction, fanart, fandom, cartoons, anime, etc. But doing those things makes me feel younger even if they aren’t crazy, and I love it so I don’t give them up 🙂
I definitely agree that things like fanfiction, fanart, fandom, cartoons, etc can help encourage you to feel younger by ‘tapping into’ that inner child!
Love this! There are times when I feel “too old” for things, or items of clothing. But I’m learning not to take criticism too hardly and be myself. I’m hoping to try saying ‘yes a lot more this year.
I’ve been told I’m too old for my love of blue hair a few times, but I have no intention of giving that up anytime soon lol
I love this so much! Now that I’m 30, I feel like life and the media and beauty companies are telling me that I’m “old,” but that’s not how I feel at all! I love the thinking of getting out of your “old” mindset and the saying “yes” and getting out of your comfort zone. I’m trying to get back into learning Spanish and even reading music this year. It’s never too late to try! And earlier this year when I was feeling low about getting older, I asked some older family members if they still felt young inside and they all answered a resounding YES. That made me feel a lot better and that getting older isn’t a BAD thing.
Thanks for the great and inspiring post! I felt like I needed the reminder! 😉

I can help you with the reading music element – Music is a HUGE part of my life.
This year I think I’m going to take the time to start learning some ASL. I’ve always wanted to, so it’s time.
