The Autumn Tag

The Autumn Tag

The Autumn Tag is a blogger tag that embodies all things autumn related. There is no better way to get into the vibe of the season. The tag was created by Becca at Becxblogs based on a blog post by Naomi at roomtoglow.co.uk and Simply_Kenna’s YouTube video.

Special thank you to Frankii over at Quite Franklii for tagging me! Her blog is amazing, and she is just a ton of fun in general! If you’re looking for an entertaining account to follow on Twitter, give this girl a follow! If you’d like to see her answers to the tag questions, you can check out her post.

I was excited to get tagged in this because, well, autumn is the best time of the year, in my opinion, hands down. I love everything about it from the holidays to the colours, the fashion trends to the delicious foods. Top that all off with ALL THINGS HALLOWEEN and it’s like my dream world!

My Answers

#1 – What signifies autumn to you?

Autumn to me is cool days wrapped in a scarf and sweater, walking through piles of crunchy colourful leaves in a pretty pair of boots. Pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns everywhere, and Halloween decorations as far as the eye can see.  Throw in a hot apple cider in hand and I’m sold!

#2 – What is the best way to spend a rainy day?

It depends on what kind of rainy day. If the day is nice outside of the rain (like no major storms, no crazy blistery winds, etc) then I LOVE being able to go for a walk in the rain and Daviana is usually more than willing to join me.

If it’s not nice enough to be out enjoying it then I will be curled up at home in my living room, in front of our fireplace, cuddling puppies with a hot apple cider in hand. I will either be blogging on my laptop, watching Halloween movies, or (if it’s a good thunderstorm) storm watching through the living room windows.

#3 – What is your most fond autumn memory?

Our wedding day! We got married in September up in Muskoka so that we could embrace the fall colours on our wedding day. In true autumn fashion, it POURED during what was supposed to be an outdoor ceremony moving us into the boathouse, but it was still beautiful and the day was absolutely amazing!

#4 – What is your favourite autumn scent?

There are so many options here that it makes it incredibly difficult to decide… I’m going to go with my current obsession, which is my salted caramel candle. I’ve already burnt through one entirely and I’ve been working my way through a second… It just smells SO good in my office!

#5 – What are you most excited for this autumn?

Halloween, especially the Harry Potter themed decorations that I am starting to pull together here at the house. This is the first Halloween at this house and the first Halloween where we are going to get actual Trick or Treaters coming to our door (in the past we’ve been too far out of town to have kids showing up). We aren’t going to any parties that night or anything, we are literally planning on staying home enjoying movies (I’m going to push for a Harry Potter marathon) and handing out candy.

#6 – What is your favourite autumn song?

One thing that I haven’t shared as much on my blog is that I am a saxophone player and a HUGE jazz lover. I mean everything jazz related from big band to bebop, swing to fusion. While there are a number of different autumn type songs that come to mind the first one that immediately jumped out to me was Autumn in New York with Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong. A close second would be anything from The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack!

#7 – What is your favourite autumn movie?

The Nightmare Before Christmas – if I answered anything else to this question I guarantee you that I would have at least a few people call me on that without hesitation. It’s my favourite movie of all time period, without even having to specify ‘autumn’ movies lol

#8 – What TV shows are you most looking forward to this autumn?

Autumn means that a lot of shows are coming back with new seasons. We adore all the ‘Chicago’ shows in this house – one of the shows that my husband and I watch together religiously, as in we haven’t missed an episode. So, we’re happy Chicago Fire and Chicago PD have returned already. Chicago Med will then be joining the party in November.

I am also a SUPER excited that this autumn brought us Ink Masters Angels, which I have been enjoying thus far. I am a MAJOR fan of Ryan Ashley Malarkey, so I have been really looking forward to this starting so that I can see more of her work on TV.

Finally, I am IN LOVE with Shemar Moore. I watched every single episode of Criminal Minds from the beginning until Derek Morgan left the show (and I watched the short return last season). Ever since it was announced that Shemar was getting his own show I have been waiting for S.W.A.T. which starts in November!

#9 – What is your favourite autumn colour?

Does black count? I mean black and Halloween are always closely tied together, right? If not, I am loving on the Burgundy/Wine colour that seems to come up every autumn. I have quite a few different pieces in my wardrobe in this colour, including my newest addition – velvet burgundy pumps that I bought to go with my dress for my bestie’s wedding!

#10 – What is your most loved outdoor autumn activity?

I love just going for a walk at this time of year. When I have the opportunity, it is the perfect time to hit the local parks with the pups, taking in all the beautiful autumn colours (although they are a little late arriving this year). When I can’t get out to the park then a simple walk around the block is great at this point. It is the perfect opportunity to really take in all the amazing Halloween decorations that are starting to pop up.

#11 – What is your favourite autumn fashion trend?

There are so many things I love about autumn fashion. First, with Halloween around the corner, you can find a lot more fun ‘Halloween’ themed stuff, which is really just the little things that I adore year-round. For example, I am a little skull obsessed and this is the one time of year where I can find skulls everywhere.

Outside of that, if I had to pick one specific autumn fashion trend I would go with the big plaid scarves. I have seen so many of them and I want them ALL! Badly… As of right now I only own 2 plaid scarves so I think its safe to say that I need more.

#12 – If you could have a familiar/spirit animal, what would it be?

I have always felt a serious connection to the white tiger. Long story for another blog, but that’s why I have one tattooed on my shoulder.

#13 – Name one place you wish you could visit during autumn?

This time of year, I REALLY miss being back home. The colours up in Muskoka are WAY nicer than down here… there’s really no comparison. The colours are stunning, there are a lot more wooded areas to take them in and there’s something even more GORGEOUS about autumn leaves by the lake, where you can also take in the reflection in the water. Honestly, there are no words to explain how beautiful it all is.

Specifically, I would LOVE to go spend a weekend at Taboo Resort, the place where we got married. It’s right on Lake Muskoka, surrounded by trees. Seriously – it’s stunning up there!

#14 – What is your favourite photo you took last autumn?

I took a lot of photos last autumn. I spent a month up at my mother’s house shortly after purchasing my DSLR so it was the perfect time to learn how to use it better. My favourite, however, is arguably the best photo I have ever taken of our pups together.

#15 – What are you being this Halloween?

We aren’t going out for Halloween this year, so I was just going to dress comfortably at home. Then, while we were out shopping for pieces to help with the decorations, I came across this amazing black cat headband. Sure, it’s got cat ears like your typical cat costume but this one is special… The cat ears have studs and chains hahaha! So, obviously, I had to buy them, right?

  • What a fun tag. I LOVE all things fall and Halloween. I don’t really have anything going on to dress up for, but I am doing as many Halloween or just fall related things as I can. I love that you’re doing lots of HP themed decorations. I’m all about anything Harry Potter. 🙂
