Supporting Other Bloggers
One thing that I have fallen IN LOVE with since I started with this blog has been the discovery of the blogging community. I have blogged previously, but this is the first time that I took the time to get on Twitter, try Twitter chats and really find my place in the community.
I am going to admit that I didn’t buy in immediately. First, I felt like I didn’t really ‘fit in.’ I mean, in a world of marble flat lays, beauty products, skin care routines and latest fashion trends, I’m not exactly in my element. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with any of that because there totally isn’t! Find what you love and run with it! It’s just not something I’m ever going to excel at…
That was when someone got chatting with me and took the time to remind me that there are a TON of different blogging niches out there. This is a full community, and within the community, there is space for each and every one of us with our own individual personalities, styles, and flair. The only real requirement is that you do you!
This blogging world is an amazing one. It can help us to find our voice and discover our true selves. It provides an avenue to discuss everything from favourite lip colours to politics, fitness routines to tattoos. It opens the door for those that are fighting battles with their mental health to talk about their struggles and share their best coping mechanisms with others and provides a place to support one another through the trying times. How can you not love it?
When we all come together, supporting one another, this is what builds such a strong, tight and caring community. It is the efforts of each and every one of us that helps us all to succeed.
This help doesn’t necessarily mean blogger to blogger support either – If you are a non-blogger reading this you can also do your part to help build up the blogger that you love. All it takes is a few moments of your time, maybe a little money (depending on which way you choose to help) and a genuine desire to see your favourite bloggers succeed.
Here are 5 key ways you can support your favourite bloggers every day:
- Subscribe to and Read Their Blog
This may sound obvious, but it really is the best first step that you can take for the bloggers that you love. They put a lot of time and effort into creating and sharing their content, so show that you support them by taking it in and enjoying it. Subscribe to their email list so that you can find out when they release new content, and follow them across their basic social media accounts. Just ‘being there’ is a great way to show them that you support their efforts!
When you take the time out of your day to leave a comment, even if it is just a few short words, that can really make a bloggers day! Every blogger longs to create a community – a loyal group of readers that not only click onto their blog but are interested in engaging in the content that they have taken so long to create. It helps them to see that they are not alone in their efforts.
- Share Their Content
Each and every one of us online have our own circle of friends, family, and acquaintances. These are the people that we interact with through our posts, comments and pictures. The great thing is that your circle of friends is going to differ slightly from that of each and every person that you talk to. By sharing the content that your favourite blogger writes, you help to extend their reach, introducing their blog to new people who may connect with what they are writing.
- Purchase the Products They Share
This is obviously one of those points that depends on where you are at financially. There are a number of ways that bloggers make their money allowing them to keep doing what they do. They may do a sponsored post simply sharing the news about a company, receive a commission on an affiliate agreement with a brand or website, or they may even be selling their own products. Each time you purchase something through their efforts you help to build them up, supporting them with your purchases instead of large, nameless companies.
- Send them a Little Pick Me Up
Regardless of how confident your favourite blogger may come across in their blogging efforts, we all hit a point at one time or another where we question ourselves and our efforts. It is at these moments that they can use a boost of encouragement. This could be as simple as an email telling them they are doing well, a message on social media, a card that you send through the mail or buying them a coffee if you happen to live near them and see them working at the local coffee shop. Interested in purchasing a little pick me up from a distance? Some coffee shops, like Starbucks, offer eGifts and Tim Hortons (my addiction, I admit it) offers digital gift cards!
