Please note: I purchased this beverage to try myself, it was not given to me or discounted by the company in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own. Also, this review is meant for those who meet the legal drinking age in their own area. I am not promoting underage alcohol consumption.
With summer comes bonfires and pool parties, both of which mean cold, refreshing beverages – right? There are times that I am all for a cold beer, but other times I find myself craving something different. Recently a friend recommended that I try Dixon’s Gin Fusion, so I decided to give it a go.
The can claims it is a ‘Refreshing Gin Beverage’ and its choice of colours in the packaging are clean, crisp and light. When you see it on the shelf at the liquor store it definitely looks more like something you will relax on a chair by the pool with rather than take to a big party with the purpose of getting wasted. It is marketed more as the ‘kick back and relax’ choice. At 5% alc./vol. it isn’t going to hit any of the casual drinkers too hard. Plus, bonus, its under 200 calories!
Dixon’s Distilled Spirits is Canadian, a huge plus! I am always excited to support a Canadian business. They are located in Guelph, Ontario, so not too far from home… Did someone say road trip? Their website says that the company was founded in 2015, which makes it relatively new. On their website, you can view their selection of products including vodka, gin, moonshine and whisky. I haven’t tried any other products yet at this point, although I would definitely be interested in it in the future!
As for flavour, I find it incredibly fresh, the kind of drink, as my friend stated, that you would grab ‘to cool off and relax after cutting the lawn.’ Personally, I am more likely to kick back with one poolside while I am getting my writing down on a weekend. The flavour is described as ‘A crisp blend of ginger, cucumber, mint and lime’ which I think is incredibly fitting. Personally, I don’t taste the ginger, but the cucumber/lime mix is highly prevalent. The tastes blend together into one nice, but slightly strong taste. I loved it, although it wasn’t my husband’s cup of tea. It seems to be it’s one of those items you either like or you don’t.
Ingredients: Carbonated Water, Gin, Sugar, Citric Acid, Natural Flavour, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate
Overall, I was very impressed with it! I enjoyed the taste and found it to be the perfect summer drink! Since initially trying my first can I have taken them camping, and will be looking to stock up my backyard bar again in the near future. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys gin. Give it a try!
What is your go-to summer drink? What flavours do you associate with summer?
Ooo this sounds tasty! May have to see if we can get it in the UK! 🙂

It’s a fairly small company, but I’m sure they will make it there eventually!
Ooh this sounds tasty! I’m going to have to keep my eye out for this! I’m not too far from Canada so it’s possible they would sell it by me.
It’s definitely possible, I mean they are actually in the LCBO stores here in Ontario now so that’s a big step!
Sounds lovely! Is it available in the UK? I’d love to give it a try.

I don’t think they would be yet, still pretty new, but it would be great to see them expand out that way!
Sounds good… I love the packaging!
Isn’t it such a nice, clean look?
This sounds really good! Hopefully there other products are just as great!
I’m hoping so – planning on making a trip up to give them a try sometime in the near future I think!
(I’m under 21 FYI) I don’t quite understand why soft drinks/carbonated drinks are so common as mixers–as someone who doesn’t really like soda, I’ll have to be more creative!
There are a lot of great juice based drinks too! I stuck to vodka/cranberry during university!
oooh I do like a G&T so I may need to try this!
If you can get your hands on it I definitely recommend it!!!
I’m glad you enjoyed1! I’m more of a vodka girl than a gin one lol! x
I am usually a vodka girl actually, but gin is like my runner up choice haha
Dixon’s Gin Fusion is a quality drink, but it isn’t the best budget drink out there. For the price it’s being sold at, you can definitely get a much better quality drink. If you want to know the name of the drink, let me know.
I have actually tried the cranberry one, it’s really tasty! Great for hot summer BBQs, the only surprise is the amount of calories! I’ll have to keep it down to 2 ?
I try not to look at the calories when I’m having a drink because I figure it’s my ‘splurge’ time lol
