My Shoe Addiction
They say the first step is admitting you have a problem, so here it goes – I have a shoe addiction! Not just any shoes, high heels to be exact.
There is something extremely satisfying about having the perfect statement high heels for any outfit. It doesn’t matter if I am dressing up for a gala or formal event, or dressing down to hang out with friends – I LOVE having the perfect shoes for my outfit!
I have a pretty sizable collection – which can be seen by where all they are stored in my house. I have the floors of both my little closet spaces in my bedroom, a cupboard above one of the closest all full, as well as 3/4 of the downstairs closet shoe racks (I did leave my husband SOME space).
Inevitably I have some favourites in this collection… It’s bound to happen!
I am going to share my current favourites with you, as well as links to something similar if you also share my love of the style. Due to the fact I don’t shop by brand, and am a HUGE fan of sales and clearance finds most of these shoes are no longer available that I can find – but I have located a suitable substitute for you!
1. Don’t You Step On My Blue Suede Shoes
My love for these shoes isn’t rooted in Elvis Presley, however I can’t help but hear that song in my head each time I am slipping them on! The colour on these is stunning, and stands out great whether you are strutting your stuff on the way to brunch with the ladies, or rocking a statement look at your 2 o’clock meeting. I originally picked these up to go with a black summery dress for a wedding, and partnered it with some chunky blue accessories. I got SO many compliments!
2. It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got That Swing
For my 30th birthday I celebrated with friends and family in a full blown 20’s theme bash (I will have to share that in a subsequent blog). This theme even included costumes – with gangster outfits and flapper dresses everywhere. I purchased a gangster outfit, but was on the search for the perfect heels when I came across these. They are modern enough to go with any outfit, but have that perfect ‘vintage’ feel. The particular heels here that I purchased also have a comfort fit sole which made them SUPER comfortable to wear while dancing all night (sorry, the link below isn’t for this exact pair so I can’t make that claim).
3. She Who Leaves a Trail of Glitter is Never Forgotten
While searching for the right accessories for a gala I was attending, I knew that I was torn between silver and gold jewelry. The problem was going to be how to mix the two and tie it all together. That’s when I stumbled across these beauties. Depending on what light you look at these are either gold, silver, or a combination of the two. The glitter with each step, catching everyone’s attention when you walk in the room. I have wore these for a number of parties and galas since – as they are the perfect option to bring some shine to nearly any colour of outfit (although I think my all-time favourite is pairing these with a cocktail length black lace dress I found).
4. Take a Walk on the Wild Side
Last, but certainly not lease, these are my favourite pair as of late! Whether partnered with a black dress for something more formal, or a pair of jeans while out with friends – these shoes do it all. Who doesn’t love leopard print??? It may be an addiction in and of itself as of late in my world… It never takes long going anywhere in these gorgeous shoes before someone is complimenting them and pointing them out! I’ve had multiple friends threaten to steal them (I watch them like a hawk if I ever take them off at a friend’s house at this point)!
I have far too many shoes to feature them all – Nor would I ever expect you to read all of that! As I purchase more I am sure there will be another post similar to this showcasing a few… Right now, at this moment in time, these are my top choices!
Do you have a favourite pair of shoes? Do you have a large collection of shoes or just the basics? What makes a perfect pair of shoes for you?
