May 2017 Favourites!
It’s time for one of my favourite posts to share with all of you – my favourite items from the previous month! I have explained before, but in case you just stumbled across my blog… I don’t identify as a ‘fashion blogger’ or a ‘beauty blogger’ specifically, and for that reason I also don’t limit my favourites posts to a specific type of item. The only requirement is that the items that I choose are things that I have personally been using, and that I love.
When I break it down into individual items below clicking on the titles will take you to Amazon to purchase the item (with the exception of the Jack Daniel’s Winter Jack). Please note that these are Amazon Affiliate links. This means that should you purchase a linked product, I may receive a small commission, but at no additional cost to you. I personally have chosen the items linked, and do so as they are items that I use and love, and would never share items that I am not familiar with first hand solely for the purposes of making money. Tide Pods Free & Gentle, Carnation Light Hot Chocolate, Dove Sensitive Skin, Burt’s Bees Replenishing Chapstick, Jack Daniel’s Winter Jack
I was blessed with extremely sensitive skin. I think I get it from my mother, as she seems to be sensitive to an extreme – anything she touches can cause her to react. One of the biggest culprits for irritation I have found is the laundry detergent that I am using at any given time. I have gone through a whole list of different detergents that are labeled as being designed for sensitive skin, most of which weren’t working for me at all, until my husband brought home these Tide pods.
Now you can get this same detergent in liquid form as well, however in my house when my husband decides to do the laundry you want pods on hand because without them it somehow becomes a messy affair… I’m not totally sure what he’s doing in there, but it almost looks like he’s playing in the detergent…
Every now and then I have a craving for a sweet treat. I’m usually a tea drinker, but there are days that I just HAVE TO get my chocolate fix in. I am pretty focused on what I do and don’t allow myself to splurge on, and stick to a specified calorie in take with a focus on ensuring that I am using those calories on good quality foods, so wasting a huge chunk of these calories on a cup of hot chocolate just isn’t going to happen, no matter how badly I want it.
Queue the light version…. This is a great alternative for those of you who are focused on your diets, but still want a little something something as a treat from time to time! I make it with like 90% water and a little bit of skim milk or almond milk just to add to the taste. DELICIOUS!
Going back to the statement I made under the Tide pods – the struggle of sensitive skin is real! I had found a soap that I used for years, but it became more and more difficult to find around here until I just couldn’t find it anywhere so I had to start looking for something new. That’s when I came across this!
I LOVE this soap, and will not be changing to anything else anytime soon. It leaves my skin feeling soft, smells great and absolutely no irritation. I literally bought about a dozen so that I had them here on hand without having to go through the stress of finding them if anyone stops carrying them anytime soon…
I am a saxophone player, and for this reason I am even more diligent to make sure that I am never dealing with chapped lips. When you are playing they can be downright painful! The problem is, I am also REALLY hard on my lips doing this – so I am constantly battling the fact that I am prone to chapped lips regardless of the time of year.
I have a few favourite products that all work beautifully, and this is one of them. I specifically like this particular formula from Burt’s Bees. Since I began using it, I have never had a problem! I would highly recommend it to anyone that shares this struggle!
I don’t often discuss alcohol or drinking on here. Its not because I’m against it, or that I don’t partake in it, but just that it doesn’t come up in many of the conversations I blog about (with the exception of when I blogged about low calorie drinks or when I shared my experience at Wolfhead). While I do enjoy a good drink with friends, and I am largely a vodka drinker, this beauty has my buddies and I hooked!
Winter Jack is only available here once each year. The liquor stores get their shipment in October/November, and once its gone its gone. We try to do our best to stock up when we have the chance, and I would be lying if I said I had never spent time online searching which stores in the area still have some available…. This tastes like an apple cider. It is amazing just on its own at room temperature in a glass, or heat it up with a cinnamon stick for a real treat!
