I’m not usually a ‘junk food’ person. I mean, I’m not going to deny the fact that I enjoy a little treat from time to time – but I’m that person who can purchase one of those big chocolate bars and store it in my fridge, eating one little square at a time when I am craving a sugar fix rather than inhaling the whole thing in one sitting. HOWEVER… there is something about this time of year that seems to send all willpower and logical thought out the window when it comes to sugary treats.
It may be that they are talking about Halloween candy on EVERY television show we watch as they air their Halloween specials, or maybe it’s the candy-related commercials that keep coming up. Personally, I think the part that gets me is the fact that you can’t walk into a store without being met by a wall of candy – all types, brands and flavours. It doesn’t matter what your preference is, its destined to be there somewhere in the giant sugar filled display.
Rather than fighting it, I have decided to embrace it this year. I’m not going to try to control myself, avoid buying it or make a point of keeping it out of my house (does anyone actually succeed at that anyway?).
I was online searching for some ideas of ways to hand out candy in a creative way like the suckers turned into a ghost with a single kleenex, a permanent marker and a length of ribbon. The idea was that I needed to do at least one candy related post for Blogtober, right? That was when I came across it, the perfect candy related activity for us adults! Halloween Candy Scavenger Hunt!
Okay, full disclosure – I’m pretty sure that this was originally created for children… I mean, most things candy-related are, right? Why should the kids get to have all the fun? How many of us are really kids at heart anyway?
I found the scavenger hunt on 730 Sage Street, a lifestyle blog that I stumbled across. I love discovering new blogs! There is SO much great content out there that I don’t think any one person can ever discover it all! If you haven’t already had the opportunity to check this one out I highly recommend it! There is so much great content from recipes to decorating ideas, parents tips to printables.
Do you remember counting things in ‘sleeps’ as a child? I used to do it all the time, and given the fact this entire post seems to centre around my desire to embrace my inner child, I’m going to go for it now… We have 4 sleeps left until discount candy season! You know, that time of year when all Halloween candy goes on a massive clearance sale… Print off this fun Scavenger hunt either for your trick-or-treating plans on Halloween night or for your shopping excursion the next day!
I should note that this doesn’t mean I am endorsing sitting down and eating all of the above in an evening – that would be a quick way to make yourself very sick, put on a few pounds or promote diabetes… Collecting this candy and bring it home doesn’t mean you have to eat it all right away hahaha! It does, however, provide you with a fun list to stock up your home candy collection while it’s cheap!
What is your favourite Halloween candy? Is there any Halloween candy options that you dislike?
